Honoring our President

1. January 20, 2009

2. He had a middle-class upbringing in a strong family. His father was from Kenya, and his mom was from Kansas. He was born in Hawaii and raised with the help of his grandparents.

3. She's the daughter of Fraser and Marian Robinson. She has a brother, Craig. She studied sociology and African-American studies at Princeton.

4. Economy, creating jobs, keeping Americans in their homes, and bring stability to financial markets.

5. Things dealing with Pres. Obama and things that happen at the White House. The interesting things: The late Sen. Kennedy giving Bo to President Obama. Uninteresting things: H1N1 virus and the new website for The Council on Women and Girls.

Honoring our Pastors

Brooke-

1.My Pastor's name is Donny Shaffer, and he is awesome. He and his wife Mrs. Sue were missionaries in Bazil for about 11 years!

2.He is important to me, because he is an incredible pastor and wants the best for the members of our church. He is like a daddy. I know i can always go to him.

Ashley-
1. My pastor's name is Larry Stockstill.

2. Pastor Larry is pretty cool. When he preaches, he tells the funniest stories. He really helps me understand what he's talking about and how to apply it to my life.

3. He's important to me because he's like a distant, really cool relative. He's super nice but helps keep me on track.

She has lived in LA her whole life. They went to highschool together. She Gratuated Magna Cum Laude from Tulane University. Bobby invited her to Mardi Gras Bowl in '96 and got married the following year in October

Bible Assignment #3

Proverbs 11:29 "Those who bring trouble to their families inherit the wind. The fool will be a servant to the wise."

Ashley: Don't make trouble for you parents. They try to do the best for you so you should try to bring any drama.
Brooke: You should obey your parents and not give them trouble.






Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you."

Ashley: Respect your parents by listening to what they say and not back talking so you can life a long and fruitful life.
Brooke:God will bless you if you obey your parents




Genesis 18: 19 "For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”

Ashley: Fathers are supposed to listen to God and do as He says. So kids should obey their father and God.
Brooke: God put fathers in our life to be our authority and we should listen to them




Joshua 24:15 "And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Ashley: Follow your father if he follows the Lord.
Brooke: Your parents are your spiritual leaders and you should follow after God using them as an example in your life



Colossians 3:18-21 "Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged."

Ashley: Love and respect your family.

Brooke: Everyone in a family has to work together, and treat each other with love

Bible Assignment #1: Honoring Teachers



1. What does it mean to HONOR TEACHERS?
It means that we should listen to what they say and follow the rules of the class. We should also be respectful, and submit to their authority over us.




2. How can we honor teachers?
We can be polite when given assignments and not complain. Also, we should be diligent and get our work done when told. Of course, we always say "Yes Ma'am" and "Yes Sir."



3. What are some fond memories you have with BCS teachers? Share them here.
One day in Advanced Math 1, Mr. Moland was handing out our tests. He called Brooke's name. She grabbed her test, went to sit in her chair, and fell backwards. Her shoe flew off her foot and landed on her table.




4. Post a scripture about honoring those in authority.


1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 "12 Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. 13 Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other."

Bible Assignment #2: Honor

Honor - dictionary def. : high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank: to be held in honor

Ashley: I think honor is holding someone in the highest position and respecting that person.
Brooke: I think honor is treating people with respect and putting them before yourself


Scriptures About Honor:

1. Deuteronomy 5:16 “Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you."

2. Ezra 7:27-28 "27 Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem! 28 And praise him for demonstrating such unfailing love to me by honoring me before the king, his council, and all his mighty nobles! I felt encouraged because the gracious hand of the Lord my God was on me. And I gathered some of the leaders of Israel to return with me to Jerusalem."

3. Psalm 29:1-2 "1 Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings; honor the Lord for his glory and strength. 2 Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness."

4. Romans 12:10 "10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. "
