1) Read Hebrews 12

2) Each person in your group should type a 3 paragraph summary (5-7 sentences each) about this chapter to your blog. What stuck out to you? Which scriptures encouraged you? (give me the reference, ex: Hebrews 12:15) How? Which scripture stuck out to you the most? Why?

3) Post each of your 3 paragraph summaries to your blog.

Ashley:

Christianity is like a race. We should get rid of all sins and mostly those that trip us up the most. We should keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. While we're running the race, we should think about what Jesus went through so that we don't become discouraged and give up. While we're running God will discipline us because he treats us like His children. And good fathers discipline their children. God discplines us so that when we finish running the race, we can share His holiness.

Hebrews 12:14 states, "Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord." This scripture encourages me because tells me what I need to fix. I'm not the easiest person to get along with and it's hard for me to remain peaceful with others. It also says to live a holy life, and that those who don't will not see the Lord. And I definitely want to see the Lord. The next verse which says,"Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many." also encourages me. It tells me I should look after my friends and my sisters so they can get saved and not get tripped up by sin. I should especially watch out for myself so that when I sin, I don't let that sin pop up in others around me. I should guard myself and my heart so as not to get tripped up either.

But the Scripture that stuck out most to me was hebrews 12: 1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."Everybody is watching what I do, even when I think that they aren't. Non-Christians see me and see what a Christian should do. If I look like what unsaved people look like, they will get a bad impression of Christians as a whole. They won't understand why they should be Christians if we're supposed to be different but I act just the same way they do.
